Winter 2012 MUST-HAVES!
The weather outside is frightful, the multicolored leaves have fallen and the semester is almost over. All of which can only mean one thing; winter is almost here!
It feels like just yesterday that I was walking across the podium in a pair of denim high-waist shorts and a tank top.
Winter is brutal and gloomy but that doesn't mean your wardrobe needs to be just as gloomy. I have some exciting winter must-haves to help you bring in the new season in style!
1. A knit scarf
For ladies and gentlemen, a thick knit scarf is very important to have for the winter. Wrap yourself up in a knit scarf and keep yourself warm and cozy!
2. Faux Fur Vest
Ladies, faux fur vests are coming back this year as a trendy must have! Layer this with a knit sweater and accessorize with a bold statement necklace, and you are good to go!
3. Black Leather boots
Both ladies and gentlemen alike should have a pair of black boots for casual days. More specifically, knee high boots for females, and combat boots for males.
4. Rain/Snow boots
This is another unisex winter must have for the piles and piles of snow that will be coming our way. Make sure you snag a pair of boots with grips on the bottom so that you aren't slipping and slighting when the snow turns into ice.
5. A puffer coat
Ladies, belted puffer coats are very trendy and take away from the bulk that these coats are known to create. Gentlemen, find a puffer coat that suits your taste and will match everything!
6. Knit tights
Although the weather is frightful, I know many of you ladies will still want to wear short skirts and shorts; I'm also guilty of this. But with knit tights we will barely feel the cold.
7. Beanies
These are for both ladies and gentlemen. I love the slouchy and laid back look that beanies give off. A knit scarf and beanie to top off any casual look is the way to go!
8. A pea coat
A unisex must have that is necessary for the dress-up days!
9. Gloves/Mittens
10. Thick knit sweaters
This winter is also all about bold colors. While winter is usually associated with dark shades such as grays, blacks and navy blues, it is safe to say that bright colors are carrying over from the fall.
Red, turquoise, royal blue and orange are all part of this winter's color palette.
Color blocking (pairing two contrasting bright colors together) is also a trend that will be prevalent this winter.
Layering is also a trend that will keep you warm and in style! Make sure your layers are not monotone - wearing contrasted colors makes for a more exciting outfit.
Remember, winter is long, cold and gloomy but with the correct wardrobe, you can look HOT all the time!
