A witness in the shooting death of Richard Bailey came forward, describing a third teenager on a bike at the scene of the shooting, according to the Times Union. Previously, police said they wanted to question two teens seen leaving the scene on bikes wearing hooded sweatshirts.

But now, a 40-year-old hospital worker said "he saw a teenager on a BMX bike wearing a fur-trimmed winter coat and riding quickly north on Lake, across Madison along Washington Park," reported the Times Union. The witness, who wished to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation, was interviewed at length by a detective.

"The kid flew by me on his bike, turned and yelled something back over his shoulder, something with a taunting tone," the witness told officials.

According to the Times Union, the witness had finished a shift at the hospital at 11 p.m. He parked near his apartment, and heard a shot shortly after getting out of his car. The witness could not make out the words the third teenager yelled over his shoulder, but they were directed back down Lake Avenue toward the area where other witnesses saw two teens on bikes.

The witness described the third bike rider as a black youth, between the ages of 15 and 17, about 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds, with short hair, dark jeans, a dark-colored winter coat with a faux fur collar, the Times Union reported.

Albany Police Commander Tony Ryan cautioned the possibility of a third teen being involved in Bailey's murder may not be a solid lead.

"We're still ruling certain things and people out, but we're not prepared to put a number on anything. We're not focusing on any specific thing yet," Ryan told the Times Union.
