A University at Albany sophomore was honored last Thursday in a way that no other student has been honored before.

Kristen Guadagni from Sayville, Long Island was named College Humor's Cute College Girl of the Day on Feb. 5.

The Web site asks, "You know those people with long hair and softer voices? That's girls!" College humor finds and interviews "a new cute college girl every day and put pictures of those girls right here," according to the About Cute College Girls Section of the site.

In Guadagni's (pronounced Gua-dag-knee) interview, she alluded to applying for the contest on UAlbany's snow day two weeks ago: "Well, classes just got cancelled 'cause it's snowing mass amounts in Albany, NY. So my friend and I are constructing makeshift snowpants out of garbage bags since we're broke and can't afford real ones. Oh, is that not sexy?"

"I saw random girls and I thought why not," she said. "I just submitted random pictures, I didn't think I'd get picked."

Actually, Guadagni didn't even realize she got picked at first. According to the Cute College Girl application, "if we like you we'll e-mail with an interview and everything else that you need to know." However, the e-mail she provided wasn't one that she checked regularly. "I was going through and deleting stuff and I saw an e-mail from college humor," she said. "I was like WHAT!?" Guadagni said she wouldn't have known she was picked if she didn't go through her lost e-mails.

The interview process was a link in an e-mail with random questions on a Web site, she said.

The first thing she did was go check out the site, of course.

"I was like 'Oh shit, of course I used the bikini picture," she said. After that she called her dad. "He was like, 'That's great Kris.' I'm sure he e-mailed it to the whole fam."

"I look at all these girls and I'm like 'OK, why pick me?' but it's still really cool," she said.

Guadagni is no longer a Criminal Justice major as the site said. She recently changed her major to Communications and picked up a Theater minor. "My mom was pissed," she said.

Guadagni wants to be an actress when she grows up, and is planning on moving to L.A. as soon as she graduates. "I'm not going to be picky when I get out there," she said. "Of course I would love to star in the big blockbusters and buy a villa for my family in Italy," but she'll take what she can get. Guadagni said she chose the COM major so she has something practical to fall back on if the acting thing doesn't work out.

"I'm not gonna be a cop." She said she gets that question a lot when people hear she's a criminal justice major. "I'm not going to be miserable, I have to do what I have to do."

Before coming to UAlbany, Guadagni went to SUNY Purchase for a year. "I wasn't interested in any majors there," she said "I loved it, though. I loved my friends. It was hard to make the move up here, but I'm so happy I did."

As soon as she got a chance, Guadagni joined Alpha Xi Delta sorority on campus. "I really wasn't happy, I didn't feel strong connections the first couple of weeks. Then I checked out an AZD party and it was just love at first sight," she said. "It takes up most of my time, but I love it."

So, how does the Cute College Girl of the Day stay so cute? "I'm really a low maintenance girl," Guadagni said. She doesn't get her nails done, and she only started wearing make-up last summer. "I think your time could be spent on better things than primping yourself."

In her College Humor interview, Guadagni said she was voted best smile as her senior superlative. "I had braces," she admitted. She claimed her smile is, "like, four feet wide."

She's a self-proclaimed video game freak, has a Yellow Lab named Luca, and has a nose piercing and tattoo. Her tattoo is a Chinese symbol that she originally got as a henna tattoo in Hawaii. She said the real thing reminds her of how beautiful Hawaii is. "My mom loves tattoos and piercings," she said. "But my dad made me take my nose ring out."

The best part of being Cute College Girl of the Day, she said, is having random people she hasn't talked to in a long time calling and messaging her "just to say what's up."

She said there really isn't a bad part, that it's so much fun. However, in her College Humor interview, she said that Wyoming was a useless state when asked which US state she would get rid of, and "I actually got hated on! Someone posted on my wall defending Wyoming, saying that it had some of the best skiing in the world. I don't ski so what's it to me, if there's no palm trees, who cares?"

All her picture submissions were either cropped pictures or group pictures. "I'm not about the Myspace photos," she said. "Those girls with the bangs and the angles, I'm not about that. I don't take pictures of myself, ever. Oh crap, now those girls are probably going to egg my car."
